FAQ

Complete roof replacement — meaning removing your current roofing material entirely and replacing it — can cost around $6,000 to $10,000 mostly depending on per square foot, roof material, renovation plan, and circumstances (e.g. how the previous roof is attached).

The renovation is costly because removing the roof is already a process in and of itself and may cost from $1 – $5 per square foot or around $1,000 – $1,500 in total.

The most commonly used roofing material and the least expensive to install are the “asphalt shingles”. They can withstand outside factors with minimal upkeep for a relatively long time and come in hundreds of styles and colors.

Modern architectural materials make it possible for a roof to last 25 – 30 years on average.

Although the internet and other easily available resources make it possible, it is still more recommendable to hire professionals to fix or replace the roof for you.

While it may be true in some circumstances that installing your own roof is cheaper, DIYed repairs can also become very costly especially if you don’t have the right background and experience. (Example: buying the wrong material, improper attachment/nailing, misaligned roofing, etc.)

Roofs with lighter colors are the most energy efficient for hot seasons since the colors reflect sun rays keeping the roof surface and house cooler, thus, helping the homeowners save on electricity bills. While darker-colored roofs are great for places with snowy or cold climates since the colors absorb more heat that makes it easier for ice and snow to slide off on its own.

But do take note that other factors such as insulation, roofing material and age also matter.
